I lived in California my entire life before moving to Las Vegas last year. Although I miss California, moving to Las Vegas was one of the best decisions I ever made. The cost of living in Las Vegas is much more affordable than California. You can find a decent apartment for nearly half the cost of what you might pay in Southern or Northern California for the same space. Homes are also much cheaper in Las Vegas and are usually built on much bigger lots too. There are several “master planned communities” being developed in the suburbs around Las Vegas, which are quite luxurious. There’s no state income taxes in Nevada, which means you get to hold onto an extra 10% of your paycheck if you’re coming from California. Professionals (doctors/lawyers/accountants) have salaries comparable to Southern California. There’s also a number of jobs in the service industry that are notorious for making more money than school teachers, such as valet drivers and bar tenders. You can live comfortably here with an average work ethic, is my point.
