UVeye and Amazon have announced the deployment of an AI-powered system called AVI (Automated Vehicle Inspection) to automate vehicle inspections for Amazon's delivery fleet. This system employs a tunnel of cameras and sensors that rapidly scans delivery vehicles, detecting automotive issues with a high degree of accuracy. It was piloted at select Amazon delivery stations and has proven to be particularly effective at identifying defects in hard-to-inspect areas like the vehicle undercarriage and tire treads.

AVI's implementation aims to enhance fleet maintenance, reduce downtime for Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), and improve driver safety, benefiting both Amazon's logistics efficiency and the communities they serve. It will be deployed in Amazon delivery stations in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the U.K.

This AI-driven vehicle inspection system not only streamlines the inspection process but also contributes to improved safety and maintenance of Amazon's extensive delivery vehicle fleet, consisting of over 100,000 vehicles. As AVI is scaled up, it is expected to handle tens of millions of inspections annually.
