WAYS TO OBTAIN ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP

An Israeli passport provides its holders with new rights and opportunities. High wages, social protection, quality medicine and international education allow new citizens to secure their lives. The fastest way to obtain an Israeli passport is repatriation.

Persons of Jewish origin living anywhere in the world have the right to obtain Israeli  citizenship upon repatriation  immediately upon arrival in Israel. According to the Law of Return, documentary proof of Jewish identity allows one to become an Israeli citizen through an expedited procedure.

HOW TO OBTAIN ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP FOR A FOREIGNER

ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP BY REPATRIATION

Descendants of Jews and their immediate relatives have the opportunity to obtain Israeli citizenship based on their ethnicity. Repatriation is the process of restoring civil status to persons whose ancestors were Jewish by nationality.  Citizens  of countries who have documented the Jewish nationality of their parents or grandparents  can obtain an Israeli passport .

To obtain an Israeli passport for repatriation, there is no need to know Hebrew, previously reside in the country or take an oath. Lawyers will restore documents confirming the Jewish nationality of your ancestors and prove your right to obtain Israeli citizenship.

ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP BY NATURALIZATION

All requests for naturalization are reviewed by the Ministry of the Interior. Obtaining Israeli citizenship is possible by proving to the minister a sincere interest in the culture and traditions of the country, as well as a desire to live in Israel and contribute to the prosperity of the state. Applicants for Israeli citizenship by naturalization must meet the following requirements:

  • Be of legal age
  • Good knowledge of Hebrew
  • Legally live in Israel for at least 3 years
  • Be in the country at the time of application
  • Own Israeli real estate
  • Renounce your first citizenship
  • Have a constant source of income

ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP THROUGH MARRIAGE

Spouses of Israeli citizens must meet certain conditions to obtain citizenship. The sincerity of relationships and intentions in living together in Israel are carefully checked by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Married couples with children or who have lived together for more than 3 years are not subject to verification. Obtaining Israeli citizenship for a spouse of an Israeli citizen is possible at least 3 years from the date of marriage registration.

CITIZENSHIP BY SPECIAL MERIT

The decision to grant a foreigner Israeli citizenship is made by the Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs. Candidates for obtaining a passport may be persons who have brought significant public or economic benefit to Israel, as well as minor children of repatriates whose parents have applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A special contribution to the development of the state eliminates the requirement for a mandatory period of residence on Israeli territory.

ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH

Children of Israeli citizens or citizens are automatically granted Israeli citizenship, regardless of place of birth. A child of foreigners who was born on Israeli territory and has lived in the state for at least 5 years has the right to receive an Israeli passport upon reaching adulthood.

ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP AFTER ADOPTION

Immigration to Israel is possible subject to adoption by a Jew, the son/daughter of a Jew, or a person of Jewish descent. Jewish children adopted by foreigners can also apply for Israeli citizenship if they have documentary evidence of the right to repatriation. For adopted children of Jewish grandchildren, registration of Israeli citizenship is provided through the procedure of general naturalization.
