Acclaimed director Saumitra Singh and storyteller Abhi Raj Sharma have joined forces with producer Shaz Memon to create the documentary 'No Water Land.' The film presents the difficult choices girls must make between survival and pursuing education for a brighter future.

Saumitra Singh, an energetic and ambitious director, has introduced his new project 'No Water Land.' The documentary tells the inspiring story of UK-based philanthropist Shaz Memon and his efforts through his NGO 'Wells on Wheels' to improve the lives and education of girls in Maharashtra. These girls often face barriers to education because they must collect water for their families.

Shaz Memon, the producer, states that every child should have an equal opportunity to realize their dreams. He aims to break the cycle of water collection that traps many young girls in rural India, forcing them to sacrifice their education and health. He emphasizes the heavy burden these girls bear, needing to carry water for their families, which in turn limits their educational opportunities.

Director Saumitra Singh expressed his deep concern for the girls who must travel long distances daily to fetch water, preventing them from accessing education and hindering their overall development. He was shocked to learn that this situation occurs so close to a bustling metropolis like Mumbai and felt compelled to bring these stories to light.

The project has completed its preliminary scouting and is now in the pre-production phase. Saumitra is appreciative of Sanjay Kapoor, who introduced him to the project creators and serves as the brand ambassador for 'Wells on Wheels.' Singh praised Memon and the team at Nashik's 'Wells on Wheels' for their remarkable work.

'Wells on Wheels,' Shaz Memon's NGO, will produce the documentary in collaboration with Shukar Studios and Shiprartz, which will oversee production. Saumitra Singh will direct the film, with Hasan Khan serving as the Executive Producer. Abhi Raj Sharma has taken on the role of narrating the documentary, which focuses on the girls' hardships.

Saumitra Singh, who previously worked with Naseeruddin Shah on the award-winning short film 'The Wallet' and has other upcoming projects like 'Taxi No 24' with Mahesh Manjrekar and 'The House of Lies' with Sanjay Kapoor, is set to lead this significant social project.
