Freitas Enterprising, Inc. was formed by Dan and June Freitas in the mid-1980's to become the New England distributor and service partner for GA Braun's line of industrial laundry equipment. Dan had worked as a field service technician for GA Braun and had seen the opportunity to become a regionally focused service business working with commercial and industrial laundries. The Freitas business quickly earned an outstanding reputation in the New England market. In addition to selling new GA Braun equipment, Dan started refurbishing used equipment for resale.
In 2007, Dan was still enjoying working with his customers from a service perspective, but was not enjoying the business operations side. After meeting Ned Hazard, and his partners, he decided to partner with them to help grow the business that he had started. From 2007 to 2019, the business operated as Freitas Equipment LLC, as a subsidiary of an ownership group which also operated Kleen Laundry & Dry Cleaning Services, Inc. and Sterling Linen Services LLC (until 2016 when Sterling was sold).
Following the closure of Kleen in June 2019, Ned Hazard made arrangements to purchase the assets of Freitas Equipment, and launched the new company - Leading Edge Laundry Equipment in November 2019.
All of the employees of Freitas Equipment decided to move to the new company. Which means Leading Edge is well positioned to continue delivering excellent field service, parts and equipment support to commercial and industrial laundry operations throughout the North East.
