Presidential View Farm
We are the Savage family from Jefferson, NH. Please join us on our journey as we continue the traditions of the small family dairy farm.
Our Farm was established in 1933 by Gordon J. Savage Sr., and his wife Pauline Fox Savage, my paternal grandparents. My parents, Gordon J. Savage Jr., and his wife Lena Pray Savage, purchased the farm in 1960. It operated as a small dairy farm of mainly Jersey's until they retired in October of 2002. We are David, Kate, Ainsley and Kayleigh Savage and are the third generation to operate the farm. We changed the name in 2004 to Presidential View Farm, to honor the beautiful views of the surrounding presidential mountain range.
The farm has not shipped milk since 2002, but our friends in a neighboring town who own a dairy have kept the fields hayed and we have also raised dairy heifers and a few beef animals since then.
We have had the desire to get the dairy operating again and have slowly been gathering equipment and supplies necessary for the past thirteen years to make it happen.
In May of 2015, David lost his mother who was 78. It was a real eye opening experience that there wasn't going to be any better time to get this project underway than now. Especially with two young daughters who are very eager to be working with dairy cattle.
We are in the long, diligent process of breathing new life into the farm, restoring its former beauty and showing pride for our community. We hope to promote agriculture and inspire others as we have been inspired.
