We are TerpTax, a non-profit affiliated with the University of Maryland, College Park. Under the guidance of Professor Samuel Handwerger and in partnership with The Graduate School at the University of Maryland, we aim to provide free tax preparation services to all low to mid-income individuals in the community according to VITA/TCE guidelines, to educate the public about taxes, and to provide both a valuable community service and a powerful hands-on learning experience for students of the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
WHAT SERVICES ARE OFFERED
Tax preparation for U.S citizens, U.S residents, or residents of Canada or Mexico
Tax preparation for non-resident aliens
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer consultation services.
PRIVACY POLICY
We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. We only use clients’ information for tax return preparation purposes and will never share it with anyone else without clients’ consent. We only keep clients’ information on file until the end of the next spring semester, where we then take secure and safe procedures to delete the information at the set date. QUALIFIED TEAM
All our volunteers are undergraduate and graduate students from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. Our volunteers are certified by the IRS in preparing tax returns and are supervised by faculty director Professor Samuel Handwerger, CPA.
