Local runner Jamil Coury has logged 325 miles running in Tempe this January in pursuit of winning free Chipotle for a year.
Currently facing competition from nearly 1,400 local runners, Coury said that this is a particular competition that people have probably never heard of while documenting on his YouTube channel here .
This month, Chipotle partnered with Strava to create 25 “Chipotle segments,” which are portions of roads and trails created by the Strava community where athletes can find friendly competition by chasing the fastest times on the leaderboard, a press release explained.
Through Jan. 31, fans can compete for Local Legend Status, an award for the individual who completes their local segment the most times. Chipotle will reward the Local Legend in each city with free Chipotle for a year.
