The Texas Supreme Court upheld the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youths Friday, rejecting pleas from parents that it violates their right to decide on and seek medical care for their children.
The 8-1 ruling from the all-Republican court leaves in place a law that has been in effect since Sept. 1, 2023. Texas is the largest of at least 25 states that have adopted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors.
The Texas law prevents transgender people under 18 from accessing hormone therapies, puberty blockers and transition surgeries, though surgical procedures are rarely performed on children. Children who had already started the medications had to taper off their use.

Celebrities and elites at the highest echelons of American society and industry have showered President Biden’s re-election campaign with massive donations, which could undercut the 46th president’s homespun "Scranton Joe" and "Amtrak Joe" image.
Biden took the stage of Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater earlier this month, when he was flanked by former President Obama and late night host Jimmy Kimmel. The audience, performers and others attending the event in Biden’s support included Hollywood elites such as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Barbra Streisand, Jack Black, Jason Bateman, Kathryn Hahn and Mindy Kaling, Vanity Fair reported. The star-studded fundraiser was a monetary success for the president’s re-election campaign, shattering previous Democratic fundraising benchmarks with $30 million in donations, the Biden campaign said earlier this month.

With the Fourth of July almost here, you may be wondering which states exhibit the most patriotism and where does Colorado rank.
According to a study by WalletHub, the personal finance website defined patriotism as: the combination of military engagement and civic engagement.
For their methodology, WalletHub used a 100-point system in which military engagement could have a maximum of 25 points, and civic engagement could have a maximum of 75 points.
Metrics used within the dimension of military engagement included military enlistees per 1,000 adults (between 2015 and 2020), veterans per 1,000 adults, active-duty military members per 100,000 adults and share of adult population in military reserves.
The dimension of civic engagement had even more metrics including: share of adult population who voted in 2020 elections, volunteer rate, AmeriCorps and Peace Corps volunteers, jury participation and U.S. history/civics education requirement.
