What does a TSA precheck mean?

TSA Pre Check is a government-sponsored program that gives approved travelers on domestic flights and some international flights, such as flights from New York to Mumbai, expedited screening. Pre Check travelers don’t need to remove their shoes, liquids, laptops, light jacket and belts, which means less time in line. The program is available at almost all airports and airlines, but there are some destinations that do not use the TSA Pre Check program.

How to request TSA Pre Check?

To apply for TSA Pre Check, submit an online request on the official TSA website. Here is the procedure –

  • Open the official TSA website and then go to the “Programs” tab.
  • Click on the ‘TSA Pre Check’ option.
  • Press the ‘New Registration’ button.
  • Complete the form carefully with accurate information.
  • After all the paperwork, make an appointment at any of the more than 380 enrollment centers nationwide.
  • At the in-person interview, you will be required to provide your fingerprints and undergo a brief background check.
  • You will receive written notification and your trusted (known) traveler number within 2 to 3 weeks after the appointment.

How to add TSA Pre Check to American Airlines?

The easiest method to add a known traveler number or pre-check number 1(888)-657–3644 to an air ticket on American Airlines is to update your AAdvantage profile with the number. Simply log in to your account and go to “Your Account”. Next, click on ‘Information and Password’ and add your Pre Check or KTN number in the Known Traveler Number field in the ‘Safe Traveler’ section.

When making a new flight booking on American, whether domestic flights or international flights like flights from San Francisco to Hyderabad, log into your account in the AAdvantage app. It will automatically display most of your personal information, including your known traveler number and pre-verification number needed to make your reservations.

If you’re not signed in to your AAdvantage account, American Airlines also allows travelers to add their TSA Pre Check or Redress Number during the booking process. You can enter your Pre Check number manually in the Known Traveler field in the “Passenger Details” section.

If you’ve already booked your flights with American Airlines, go to the airline’s official website and click ‘Manage Trip for each booking. How to Add TSA Pre Check to American Airlines Boarding Passes?

When you sign up for TSA Pre check, you will receive a unique known travel number 1(888)-657–3644 that tells the world that you are not a threat to American lives. And you can pass security checks without removing your belt, jacket, etc. When you get your PreCheck number, you’ll need to log into your AAdvantage account and add the number to your personal details. After this, you will automatically be eligible when you book a flight with American Airlines. You will be able to see “TSA Pre” on your boarding pass.

If your boarding pass does not show TSA Pre status, you will not be able to use the TSA Pre Check lane at the airport, whether or not you are a TSA Pre-approved passenger. Even if you have proof of membership, like the Global Entry card or anything else, you can’t just use the TSA Pre Check lane. Therefore, always be sure to update your KTN or repair number before printing your boarding pass for an American Airlines flight.
