Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) screening systems market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 6.9% during the forecast period. As per the data published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2019, nearly 466 million people across the globe have disabling hearing loss, and of these, 34 million are children. By 2050, it is estimated that more than 900 million people will suffer from disabling hearing loss. The major causes of hearing loss include genetic causes, chronic ear infections, complications at birth, certain infectious diseases, exposure to excessive noise, the use of particular drugs, and ageing. Nearly 1.1 billion young people, aged 12–35 years has a significant possibility for hearing loss coupled with the exposure to noise in recreational settings. In addition, congenital causes are considered as the major cause of hearing loss among newborns. Hearing loss can occur due to hereditary and non-hereditary genetic factors.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2016, the percentage of newborns screened for hearing loss was 98% in the US. In addition, it has shown an increase in the number of infants screened for hearing loss from 95.2% in 2006 to 98.0% in 2016. Of these, among 50% to 60% of children with hearing loss reported due to genetic causes. Nearly 20% of babies with genetic hearing loss have Usher syndrome or Down syndrome. These growing concerns of hearing loss are encouraging the government to implement newborn hearing screening programs to accelerate the screening of newborns across the nation. For instance, there is a significant rise in the universal newborn hearing screening (UNHS) programs that were implemented in the US.

This program allows providers, states, territories, and families for the development of full and coordinated care for the patients. As a result, it enables to deliver proper care to the newborns, infants and young children with hearing loss. Therefore, the government programs for the screening of hearing loss is attributing to the positive demand for ABR screening systems. These tests are an easy, fast, and effective hearing screening of newborns for identification of potential neural hearing loss. ABR can be utilized as a screening test in newborn hearing screening programs. Loudness level is checked during ABR screening. Additionally, the test is generally conducted on children and infants who may not be able to respond to behavioral hearing tests. For adults, ABR is suggested for the screening of certain kinds of tumors that can occur within the auditory system. This allows physicians to understand the status of the hearing nerve.
