Waikonini Homestead is a carefully restored Heritage Listed Victorian house in Peel Forest, New Zealand. Mary, the homestead's host and owner has revived the almost forgotten comfort of old times with antiquated beddings, beautiful soaps, vintage bathrooms, home-made food and classic afternoon tea. A trip to Waikonini Homestead is a trip back in time.
There is a gallery, a big suspended staircase, a chandelier, and a blazing open fire at the homestead that make it even more charming. Because Mary has been on so many trips, Waikonini is full of real Persian rugs and fine Chinese porcelain that she got while living in Oman and Bahrain. The kitchen's unique table is made from a church altar that was taken from a Cave, South Canterbury, church that was no longer being used.
