Etched in Valor ( previously - Gifts and Engraving by George )
Etched in Valor was originally known as Gifts & Engraving by George, Inc. George being, George Benton, a Vermont businessman with decades of engraving experience under his belt. In 2007, George moved to Glens Falls, New York with his family and opened Gifts & Engraving by George, which he successfully owned and operated for twelve years.
In February 2019, Glens Falls residents, Adam Root and his fiancé Kris Flower purchased the business from George. The business purchase was a natural step for Adam. After years of creating custom wood signs and his signature, custom-turned pens from his in-home business, Root’s Wood Designs, he was ready to expand. His past creations could be found online and throughout New York State at design exhibitions. These pieces were sought-after and his detail work was legendary. Adam is a Hudson Falls graduate, a U.S. Marine, and a New York State Corrections Officer. He is truly the heart and soul of Etched in Valor, overseeing the day-to-day operations as well as being the talent behind creating all the custom products. Oorah!
Kris Flower is a Glens Falls native. She earned degrees from Adirondack Community College, The College of Saint Rose, and Albany Law School. Kris is the managing partner in the Glens Falls law firm of Caffry & Flower. While Adam is the creative side of Etched in Valor, Kris is the nuts and bolts behind the scenes, tackling administrative functions and keeping the business on task. Together, Adam and Kris make a great team and provide a professional, yet welcoming environment. Stop by the store and see for yourself!
Adam and Kris believe in giving back to the communities that support them. Along with donating to many local charities and not-for-profits, they are proud to host a toy collection box at their store that helps the Tri-County Marines Toys for Girls and Boys drive. New toys can be dropped off during store hours throughout November/December. This annual event is sponsored by the Memorial Detachment 2 of the Marine Corps League of Hudson Falls. It benefits the children of Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties. Kris also serves on the Board of Directors for the Adirondack Theatre Festival, Inc. and the Conkling Center, Inc.
