All of our doctors are board certified veterinary dermatologists and have Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD). This means, that in additional to completing four years of post-graduate training in veterinary school, they have also completed a one-year internship program or practice equivalent and a 2-3 year dermatology residency in an accredited ACVD program. All of this encompasses comprehensive training in a wide range of studies, including anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the skin, clinical dermatology and pharmacology, and scientific research. Prior to completion of residency training, candidates must conduct and publish an original research project and must demonstrate superior knowledge in the management of veterinary dermatology cases. Upon completion of their residencies, candidates must then pass a comprehensive, two-day examination administered by the ACVD. Only after completing all these requirements, can a veterinarian become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (Dipl. ACVD). Board certified veterinary dermatologists are recognized as experts in the field of veterinary dermatology by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
