ASTM A572 Grade 50 is a higher yield and tensile strength compared to ASTM A36, they are useful in making buildings, construction, bridges, equipment machinery, truck parts, towers, freight cars, and transmission towers. It is a high-strength, low alloy steel plate that offers an optimum combination of strength, weldability, and notch toughness with economy. ASTM A572 Grade 50 Steel Plate has excellent formability and weldability characteristic. It can be cut with oxy-acetylene, plasma, laser, and water jet, and with an abrasive cut-off saw. They are used for a high-strength, low alloy (HSLA), hot-rolled structural steel plate. A572 Gr 60 steel has excellent weldability and can be welded with simple techniques and common consumables such as E7018.
A572 Grade 60 Plate can be joined by bolting, riveting, or welding, they are used for structural steel shapes in the construction of buildings, bridges, or similar structures. And it is more difficult to cold work than ordinary plain carbon steel. It requires more force than plain carbon steel to get bent or shaped successfully. Astm A572 Grade 45 Plate is typically used for moderate-strength structural applications such as cold-formed bolts and fasteners and is useful for its greater strength while still having good ductility. ASTM A572 Grade 65 plate useful for riveted or bolted construction of bridges or for riveted, bolted, and other applications. Compared with A572Gr60 steel, A572 Gr.65 steel plate has a more yield and tensile strength.
