Description:

The Y is a staple in downtown Plattsburgh.
Impacting the community since 1887.
The first location of the Plattsburgh YMCA was the top floor of the D&H terminal starting in 1887. The next location of was above Tierney’s Variety Store which burned down in 1902. In 1908, Loyal Smith left the YMCA $35,000 for a new building and $100,000 to keep it running. The new building was built on Oak Street where it stands today. Many changes and additions have been made to the Plattsburgh YMCA, but our rich history is evident throughout our bustling hallways. Our pool was built in 1960 and an addition was added to make our current lobby, office, teen center and babysitting areas. The Malone branch of our YMCA started 2004 through community partnership. Bright Beginnings Child Care Center was acquired from the Plattsburgh Air Force base when they closed in 1995 and currently serves approximately 65 children per month from 6 weeks to 4 years old.

Our Mission: To strengthen our community through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
