Is it worth taking a minivan for excursions in Germany: pros and cons of group travel?

Hi everyone!!! My friends and I last year decided to take a minivan for a tour of Germany. The idea was great: all together in one transport, no need to run after trains and carry suitcases. But we faced the problem that not all the sights were close to each other, and there were not always enough parking places. Especially in the old towns, where narrow streets and parking lots are only for locals. In the end, it turned out that part of the time was spent on searching for parking lots and dealing with the navigator. The question is: is it worth taking a minivan to travel around Germany, or is it better to travel separately by public transportation or take a cab? What were your impressions?

Hi there, I and my family went to Germany on a trip and then we thought why not rent a minivan for group travel? Major advantages and disadvantages were observed in general. To my mind, the major advantage is the possibility to travel as a group. There are no lock-in plans, you can freely talk about the plans on the spot. But you must be amazed at car parking which may at times prove to be challenging, particularly in large areas that may be considered tourist attractions. My recommendations are that you should standardize on which routes to take and where to look for car parks and also always keep in mind that some roads are narrow. If you are looking to rent, minibus 8rental is where you should go. They have reasonable charges embracing and a wide range of transport. We were satisfied because our driver knew the area and was always able to find some kind of location to park. Thus, in the case when using a minivan, only with the driver, who knows where it is better to get? I also believe that group travels are useful as long as you try to plan everything in your head and do not rely on the navigator only.

Hi, I came across your thread and decided to see what was being discussed. I haven't traveled to Germany with a group myself yet, but I've always wondered how people plan such trips. I usually travel alone or with small groups on public transportation so I don't have parking issues. But your stories sound curious, I'll take note for future trips. Thanks for the interesting thoughts!

No, it's not always worth it. While a minivan offers flexibility, parking and driving in German cities can be stressful. Public Incredibox Colorbox Mustard transportation or taxis might be more convenient and efficient, especially in urban areas.
